This paper presents CityTreasure, an SMS-based location-based game for primary and early secondary school children on urban cultural heritage, both artistic and civic. CityTreasure uses SMS mobile technologies to support outdoor engaging informal learning experiences. CityTreasure was successfully used in Lugano, Switzerland, with more than 100 students, who explored the city in teams during a treasure hunt. The paper presents the idea and design of the game, the content and technology development process, and the details of system implementation, including the collaboration with teachers. Adults involved reported a high level of engagement, especially among the younger students.

Questo articolo presenta CityTreasure, un gioco basato sul SMS-based applicato al patrimonio culturale urbano, per i bambini delle scuole elementari. Il CityTreasure utilizza tecnologie SMS mobile per supportare le esperienze di apprendimento all'aperto. Esso è stato utilizzato con successo a Lugano, in Svizzera, con più di 100 studenti che hanno esplorato la città in team nel corso di una caccia al tesoro. L'articolo presenta l'idea e il design del gioco, il contenuto e il processo di sviluppo della tecnologia, e le modalità di attuazione del sistema, compresa la collaborazione con i docenti.
